Before you subscribe
- Cancel whenever you like, from your settings. You keep the plan until the period you have already paid for runs out.
- Prices are shown before tax. Whatever your country charges on a digital subscription is added on top, and the exact total is shown on the payment page before anything is confirmed.
- Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, who are the seller of record and issue your invoice.
- Losing a paid plan never deletes anything. If a subscription ends you keep everyone you already follow — you simply cannot add more than the free plan allows until you subscribe again.

Alerts clear a higher bar than the digest, and most updates never clear it — so they arrive occasionally rather than daily. What they never carry is a rumour: an unverified report is not sent as an alert on any plan, whatever it scores. See how we decide.
Questions
- Can I cancel?
- Whenever you like, from your settings — it takes one click and no conversation. You keep the plan until the period you have already paid for runs out, and nothing you follow is ever deleted when a subscription ends.
- Can I get a refund?
- No. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep the plan until the period you paid for ends, but we do not refund the rest of a period, a renewal you forgot to cancel, or months you did not use — the free plan is there so you can see what this does before you pay for it. Money we took in error is not a refund and we return it: write to hello@bynamely.com.
- Why is the total on the payment page higher than the price here?
- Tax. Prices here are shown before it, and what gets added depends on where you are — the rate in India is not the rate in Germany or California, so this page does not pretend to know yours. The exact total is shown on the payment page before anything is confirmed, and the invoice comes from Dodo Payments, who are the seller of record and settle that tax for you.
- Why did my plan not switch on straight away?
- It should have. If you paid by an Indian card or UPI, your bank confirms the mandate before the first charge is taken, which can take up to two days — but the plan is yours from the moment the mandate is authorised, not from when the money moves. If the page still says otherwise an hour later, write to us.
- How often will I actually get an alert?
- Not often, and that is the design rather than an apology. An alert needs an update that scores high enough to be worth interrupting you for, and most do not — a review, an interview or a box-office update is real news and still not worth an email. What an alert never carries is a rumour: an unverified report is not sent as an alert whatever it scores, and the count of times that rule has been broken is published on the home page. The digest is what arrives every day; alerts are for the ones that should not wait for it.
- What actually changes if I upgrade?
- Three things, and only three: you can follow far more people, major updates reach you within minutes by email instead of waiting for tomorrow’s digest, and on Max the bar an update has to clear to interrupt you is lower — low enough to include a casting, which Pro’s is not. Everything else — the feed, the sources under every update, the daily digest, your importance threshold — is the same on every plan.
- Does the free plan expire?
- No. It is not a trial and there is no card to enter. If neither paid plan ever appeals to you, nothing about your account changes.
